Maria Custódio
Every story lives between the lens and the structure behind it.
Maria Custódio is a Luso-Brazilian filmmaker based in the UK, driven by a deep curiosity about people and the stories they carry. Whether behind the camera or leading a production, she is drawn to projects that explore identity, human connection and the quiet emotions that often go unspoken.
Growing up between two cultures shaped the way she sees the world, giving her an appreciation for different perspectives and the relationships that exist between people, places and memory. She believes the best stories are the ones that feel honest, leaving audiences with something to reflect on long after the screen fades to black.
Holding a BA (Hons) in Film Production from Southampton Solent University, Maria has worked across producing, cinematography and digital content creation. She enjoys the collaborative nature of filmmaking, bringing together creative ideas while ensuring every production runs with purpose, clarity and care. For her, filmmaking is as much about the people behind the scenes as it is about the story on screen.
